Prineville Chess Club
Welcome to the Prineville Chess Club — a friendly, welcoming community for chess players of all ages and skill levels in Central Oregon.
Whether you're a complete beginner who has always wanted to learn the game, a returning player looking to get back into it, or an experienced competitor seeking regular games, you will feel right at home here. Our club is small and laid-back, focused on fun, friendship, and great chess.
Who We Are
We are a casual chess club that brings together local players who enjoy the game without the pressure of intense competition. Our emphasis is on enjoyable games, friendly rivalry, learning from one another, and good conversation.

What to Expect When Visiting the Club
A typical Friday evening is relaxed and social. You'll see players of all levels paired up at boards, from quick casual games to more serious matches. Beginners are warmly supported — experienced players are always happy to offer advice or play teaching games. Although we often play without time controls, we are happy to be challenged with a game of blitz or rapid.
- Boards, pieces, and clocks are provided, so all you need to bring is yourself (and optionally your own set if you prefer).
- Between rounds, there's plenty of conversation and analysis of interesting positions.
